Locally they say that the 13 segments of the woolly bear correspond to the 13 weeks of winter with the black segments indicating severe winter weather while the brown are for mild weather. They even have an annual Woolly Worm race in nearby Banner Elk and the winning worm is named the official winter weather forecaster!<br /><br />That park sounds wonderful!
