Now that my RCHS presentation is out of the way, I am settling in to paint from a few of the vintage snapshots I've snagged from the consignment shop.
I'm not sure what it was about the original black and white photo that called to me, perhaps the woman's obvious pride in her daughter, the two of them smiling in what I imagine to be spring sunlight. Or maybe it was her hat, putting her eyes in deep shadow, and accentuating her smile.
Anyway, this little painting caught the moment nicely.
