Another Visit to the Canary Islands

11x14 inches, oil on canvas board

I have plenty to do, so I'm not sure what made me revisit the Canary Islands, scene of April's Virtual Paint Out challenge.  I just dropped my little yellow guy down, and found this sun drenched scene.  I'm still trying to work on my use of oil paint, and also my representation of buildings, so I guess this is just another practice. What attracted me in particular to this scene is the repeated shapes of the flower pots and the shadows on the road.

I love the Canary Island scene. I do not usually like oils, but these are so light and pastel-colored.

Did you think about putting pictures at ETSY?

I LOVE your Canary Island piece and the watercolor is lovely, especially the shadows... Good to see a fellow midwesterner on Virtual Paint Out, I grew up in Beloit!

A lovely sun drenched painting of the Canary Island. The sunny colors are inviting and shadows are wonderfully rich.

A good eye for the essential with the hints of geometric buildings, blocks of color, and delicate sky.
Nice work.
